Kim Gorman, M.S., R.D. Health A-Peel, Inc. Owner Accomplishments Ms. Gorman is an expert educator in the field of nutrition and fitness as it relates to improving health. She is a passionate group facilitator leading classes in the community, on an academic campus, or as part of a research intervention. She has developed one-on-one health and wellness services providing health-risk assessments during Health Fairs, nutrition and fitness assessment with goal setting for clients, Lunch ‘n Learn sessions on an array of weight management-related topics, and individual lifestyle counseling for wellness and performance. Ms. Gorman’s dual background augments her use of fitness testing including body composition by way of Bod Pod or skinfold calipers, 3-minute step-test for heart rate recovery, muscular endurance and flexibility testing for outcomes measures. Ms. Gorman has a true gift in translating the science into measurable, client-centered plans.
Ms. Gorman speaks nationally to medical groups on behalf of C.O.R.E. (Centers for Obesity Research and Education). She has been a member of the American Dietetic Association and Nutrition Entrepreneurs Dietetic Practice Group for over 15 years. She has been a member of the Weight Management Dietetic Practice Group since inception fulfilling various Executive Committee roles. Ms. Gorman has been an invited expert reviewer for the Centers for Disease Control school wellness policy statement. Ms. Gorman holds a dual patent on her dietary plate apparatus, Perfect Portions Diet Dish™ which has been used by both the Diabetes Prevention Program and the Look AHEAD program. And after five years of research with a psychologically-based, telephonic, nutrition education intervention with Summa Health Systems, she created, co-owned, and operated a commercial weight loss program where the Diet Dish complimented her cognitive-behavioral weekly class curriculum. Producing weight loss as a byproduct of sustaining client-centered behavioral commitments fuels her professional mission! Personally Ms. Gorman models a healthy lifestyle for her three children and is an advocate in her community. She is actively involved with youth organizations adding nutrition education and encouraging parents to engage in movement with their children. She coaches multiple sports and is developing a landmark competitive-level softball league inclusive of healthy eating!
